Encryption
Issues:
Significant debate has centered on the nation's encryption policy, which limits the ability of US hardware and software companies to integrate encryption into their commerical products. In answer to this, the White House has recently (October 2) released a new encryption proposal. There are concerns expressed, however, that this proposal responds more to the needs of law enforcement officials, and does not address the privacy concerns of internet users.
