Event Description

The NITRD program, in collaboration with the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the National Artificial Intelligence Initiative Office (NAIIO), is updating the National AI R&D Strategic Plan: 2019 Update, which defines the priority areas for Federal investments in AI R&D. To ensure that the update to the Plan reflects current technical and societal priorities related to AI R&D, we are reaching out to the broad science and technology community, particularly those groups that are too often left out of the conversation, to encourage responses to the Request for Information (RFI) to the Update of the National Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Strategic Plan. Responses to this RFI should include ways in which the strategic plan should be revised and improved, including in focus areas suggested within the RFI Supplemental Information section.

NITRD has organized two listening sessions to offer a platform for you to provide your input to the RFI in the format of a three-minute talk. These listening sessions are scheduled as follows:

  • Wednesday, February 23, 2022, 10:00am–02:00pm (ET)
  • Friday, February 25, 2022, 12:00pm–04:00pm (ET)

To provide your inputs at the listening session please register by February 23, 2022, at 11:59 pm (ET). Registering to provide inputs at the listening sessions and submitting a response to the RFI is voluntary. Each individual or institution is requested to register for only one three-minute slot. If you choose to opt out of the listening sessions but still want to provide input, please send your responses directly to AI-RFI@NITRD.GOV with “RFI Response: National Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Strategic Plan” in the subject line of the message. Please ensure that your submission does not exceed 10 pages (exclusive of a cover page) and is in a 12-point or larger font, with page numbering on each page. Responses to this RFI should include ways in which the 2019 strategic plan could be revised and improved, including in focus areas suggested within the RFI Supplemental Information section.

All written responses to this RFI may be posted online at https://www.ai.gov. Therefore, please avoid including any business proprietary information, copyrighted information, or personally identifiable information in your response to this RFI.

In accordance with FAR 15.202(3), responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Responders are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding to this RFI.

Thank you for your help in updating the Nation’s AI priorities.
